You Like My Nails? Gee, Thanks — It’s Cuticle Oil!

My nails have always grown quickly. Like, super quickly. So when their growth was stunted, I was confused — what happened to my beautiful, pitchfork nails!? And when I tried to find answers, the only thing I saw was: try cuticle oil. But what the hell is that?

I’d heard of cuticle oil, but I’d never looked into it. I assumed it was for old ladies whose nails kept breaking, or a form of polish for those who bit down to the cuticle.

Yeah, I was wrong. And now, we’re here to educate you on cuticle oil and suggest to you some products we can’t recommend enough.

What Is Cuticle Oil?

As I mentioned, I was dead wrong about its purpose.

Turns out, cuticle oil is a fantastic moisturizer for your nails and, of course, cuticles. Cuticles take the brunt of the damage on your nails — they’re the part that’s worn down from soap, cold, picking, cracking, and dryness. So, when this happens, a cuticle oil is the solution. Just add a few drops to your cuticles, rub it in, and BAM: you’ve got good hydration going on. On top of this, the right ingredients can create a barrier from the elements — perfect if you’re trying to heal your poor cuticles.

It’s not just moisturizing, though. This miracle product also helps increase circulation around your nails, in turn helping them grow faster. It also helps with the appearance, so your longer nails will look hydrated and healthy.

If your cuticles need a lil TLC, there’s no shame in that — our hands face trauma on a daily basis. Read on for the oils we recommend most!
