I danced for 13 years, and it has taken a toll on muscles, joints, bones – if it’s in my body, then dancing for nine hours, five days a week, probably destroyed part of it. So hearing about hemp and CBD body and skincare, like serums, creams, and oils? Products that could help more than a few (or more, shhh) Advil? Yeah. Amazing. And I’m not the only one loving it.
The CBD business is booming. Forbes reports that the CBD market – topical and ingestible – is expected to hit $19.5 BILLION by 2025 with FDA approval.
SingleCare conducted a survey in January 2021 on CBD. The results were remarkable. Thirty-three percent of American adults had tried CBD, with 40% of 18-29 year-olds having tried CBD at least once as of 2019. And surprisingly – or perhaps unsurprisingly, as we enter 2022 – almost half of those who used CBD preferred it topically, in the form of products such as bath bombs and sprays.
Eight percent of those who preferred CBD topically reported that they wanted it in the form of skincare. And that’s what brings me to write this article: hemp skincare is a growing industry, with products that help both pain and skin problems. Allied Market Research predicts that the CBD skincare industry will grow to $3,484.00 million by 2026 – an increase of $2,747.4 million between 2019 and 2026.
Many brands are jumping in on this “trend.” I use quotation marks because these brands don’t see it as a quick money maker – they see it as an industry dedicated to helping, and they want to join the quest to destigmatize and educate those of the benefits of CBD (because, no, CBD won’t get you high).
So, I present to you products from brands that are making a difference and disrupting the CBD skincare industry. From Dazey to CBD Living, these are our fav brands and products from them.
Some brands allow their hemp to be grown elsewhere, then bottled, then sold without a single eye on the product. Not the case with Dazey. Founded by four friends, Dazey is all about making CBD fun – not sterile, like in a doctor’s office or awkwardly-quiet dispensary. All hemp is grown, harvested, extracted, and bottled on-site, and they test all batches for potency and purity. The hemp is organic, and the brand is cruelty-free. Not much better than that, hm?
Goodbye, irritation, dryness, and inflammation. The Dream Cream is worth every penny, with its 500 mg(!) of CBD paired with a botanical, vitamin- and antioxidant-rich blend of blueberry fruit, calendula, chamomile, red clover, and evening primrose. Finished with a delightful citrus scent, you’ll feel relaxed, and so will your skin.
Dry skin ain’t no thang with Bloom Body Oil. It smells fabulous, with hints of jasmine, pink grapefruit, and sandalwood, and the ingredients are even better. Aside from organic hemp, you’ll find hydrating jojoba oil and Kukui nut oil, as well as anti-aging apricot kernel oil and red raspberry oil.

CBD Living is a believer of science and technology – so much so, that they’ve designed their own. Their proprietary water soluble nano technology homogenizes oil into water; proprietary self-emulsifying nano technology allows oils’ nutrients to be delivered in an oil formulation; and their proprietary skin retention nano technology lets its CBD go on top of and underneath the skin. CBD Living is all about making the most of the CBD they deliver to you.
Lavender mixed with Jasmine, Clove, Lemon and Ylang-Ylang make post-baths (obvs with their CBD Bath Bomb) smell amazing, while the CBD relieves soreness and physical stress. Their proprietary Skin Retention Technology helps the effects last long enough for me to make it out of the bath, get into bed, and fall fast asleep without wearing off.
Lavender is my favorite scent, and I’m always in need of moisture. So, I’m kind of obsessed with CBD Living’s CBD Bath Bomb, which uses their proprietary Skin Retention Technology to hydrate your skin for long periods of time. Aside from smelling amazing, the 100 mg of CBD relax and soothe my muscles after long days, so I can fall asleep easily without my body wound up and tight.

Prima has seven core values, and I align with each one. (My favorite: Be your truest, best self.) Prima believes in making change on every level: environmentally, personally, and socially. They ooze love and support to the CBD community, yes… but they also give support to those who are struggling, no matter their CBD status. The founders believe in “uprising,” because they are uplifters. I can get behind that.
Enlightenment is a serum that works for all skin types, whether you can’t seem to locate sebum or wish it would just go away. Niacinamide is vitamin B5, helping to minimize pores and even out skin, while Pentavitin is clinically proven to hydrate, hyaluronic acid and its saccharide complex booster lock in moisture, and coconut juice feeds the skin nutrients. Prima’s 100 mg of CBD is the cherry on top, completing this must-have serum.
This facial oil truly is magic, and the change when you use it? Day and night. (Okay, I’ll stop with the puns.) The facial oil is filled with essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and minerals from prickly pear, moringa, rose hip, and kukui, plus Prima’s CBD. The anti-aging effects are at the forefront, while also giving you a glow that can’t be ignored.

baceae is ethical and sustainable, with organic ingredients and 100% biodegradable or recyclable packaging. Their hemp is from farms in Colorado and Oregon, and the majority of their other organic ingredients are ethically sourced from the United States and Canada; if sourced elsewhere, they make sure the ingredients are fair-trade certified. On top of this, their products are vegan, so anyone can enjoy them guilt-free.
Winter is the time of dry lips, and we can’t help but look for lip balms that nourish and coddle. This lip balm combines CBD with calendula flowers to fight inflammation and soothe sensitive, chapped lips. Coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, and vitamin E come together to soften, hydrate, and lock in moisture, so winter’s cool air no longer gets to you.
baceae’s body butter is all about relieving physical tensions in the body, no matter what it is or what’s causing it. Coconut oil reduces inflammation, castor oil soothes, cocoa butter hydrates, and vitamin E helps with blood circulation. Add CBD to soak in, and aches and pains will be in the past.
