I regularly asked myself a question I think many have when they forget to buy hair product refills: “can I use body wash as shampoo?” (Yes, I get desperate and have to ask this at least once every two months.)
Good news for all of us (come on, I know this has happened to you): there are body washes that are amazing for hair, too! And while you should absolutely keep buying your shampoo, maybe use this body wash instead when the inevitable happens.
“Head, shoulders, knees and toes.” With NOTO’s organic and natural wash, it’s actually head, hair, face, and hands – all in one cleanser. The gender fluid product has antibacterial coriander, antiviral black pepper, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial bergamot, circulation-increasing cedarwood, and organic aloe juice to calm and moisturize. Excess oils will be a thing of the past.
The Honest Company directs this toward babies and children, but anyone can benefit from this 2-in-1 skin-softening, shampoo-cleansing formula. It’s made without phthalates, parabens, dyes, synthetic fragrances, formaldehyde donors, or SLES – notable, considering most multi-use products have at least sodium lauryl sulfate for lather. The wash is also fragrance-free.
It’s called “Turbo Wash” because it covers every body part; literally suds up with one pump, rinse off, and you’re good to go. You can thank its key ingredients for the bacteria-fighting: rosemary extract cleans skin, while juniper berry and arnica extract soothe. For both hair and body, you’ll find Cocamidopropyl Betaine, a coconut-derived surfactant that washes and hydrates with its sulfate-free properties, and Shea Butter to nourish and condition from strands to skin.
It says “Baby” on the front, but just like with The Honest Company, your skin deserves to be treated like a delicacy no matter your age! The key ingredient in Kiehl’s hair and body wash is shea butter, which offers hydration, softens skin and hair, is responsibly sourced, and helps support communities of women from rural areas of Burkina Faso. Added Vitamin E fights free radicals through its powerful antioxidants and moisturizes.
We love 3-in-1s! This solution is soft enough for the face, so you can scrub from the hair on your head to those baby hairs on your toes. (Just me? Okay, neat.) The secret formula is made from aloe, shea butter, and vitamin E, with a fragrance that will remind you of the tropics. Expect skin that is super soft and moisturized, and hair that’s strengthened and conditioned. Your body has never been more supple.
Anthony scientists and employees clearly sat down and went: “how do we make the best body wash and shampoo combination?” This collaborative effort paid off, because you’ll find ingredients that are missing from most 2-in-1 shampoos and body washes. Examples include birch leaf for a total body refresh, plus Canadian balsam for its antibacterial and skin-soothing properties. Throw in the hydrating glycerin and vitamin E, and you have a wash that ticks every box.
It’s said to be for men; we at QUILL like to ignore these claims and instead swoon over the ingredients that are amazing for everyone. Aloe is the star ingredient, but supporting roles are given to a variety of herbal extracts. Some you’ll find: eucalyptus, which can help reinvigorate the scalp, plus lemongrass to treat dry, flaky skin all over, from rough elbows to your itchy scalp. Those herbal extracts give it a low-key fragrance, rather than a blast of a perfume-store scent.
Sustainability is SUPER important at QUILL, which is why we’re a little (a lot) obsessed with shampoo, conditioner, and soap bars. Sayn Beauty’s 2-in-1 Shampoo + Body Bar completely eradicates the need for single-use plastic without skimping out on a seriously soft wash. Coconut oil is always useful for sensitive skin, while rosemary extract is bursting with antioxidants. Shea butter gives the final kiss of nourishment to the bar and, therefore, your full body.
A lot of these body wash and shampoo combos focus on skin, and it’s understandable… but really, what about those locks? This Hair & Body bar has castor oil added to it, which helps with blood circulation throughout the scalp – and we all know that healthy scalps lead to healthy hair. Olive oil softens both skin and hair when combined with soothing coconut oil, and aloe vera leaf juice seals it all together by treating both skin and hair by unblocking follicles.
